Action Plan:

The new and improved Student center will be located at 150 Convent Ave, New York, NY. Our goal is to give academic relief to the CCNY community. Since the current student center is inconvenient to students. Such as the library not allowing food and the gym being in a whole different building and with inconvenient hours. So, our Student Center will have one building dedicated to the students. Which will have four floors and a gym in the basement. The first floor will be the Comfort Lounge which will give students a place to relax. The second floor will be known as the Learning floor for students to study and meet with colleagues to work with each other. The third floor will be the cafeteria where you can stop by and grab a quick bite to eat without leaving the building. The fourth floor will be the gaming center, where students will play on consoles with one another. Building this student center will help build connections with other students and build a better community at CCNY.

The Basement will be known as the Student’s Gym. This will be a convenient gym that students can have with new gym equipment. It will also include 4 separate basketball courts in one room. It will also have lockers and showers. This will also be convenient and not disrupt any of the other floors since it’s in the basement.

The First Floor of the new and improved Student Center will be known as the comfort Lounge. This is an area where we want people to relax and spend time with other students. Since it’s important to make connections with one another. The first floor will have Ping Pong tables and comfortable couches to relax. vending machines that will have healthy snacks for brain power and Board games. As well as arcade machines and water stations to stay hydrated, The arcade machines will give comfort and help with relaxation.

The second Level of the Student Center will be known as the Learning Floor. We want this area for Students to meet for group projects or meeting for clubs. This floor will give students access to tutors. It will have things that the library lacks when you trying to study such as a snack bar, Water stations, and soundproof cubicles. The soundproof cubicles will be a game changer since in the current library noise echoes and makes it hard for students to concentrate as shown in the survey.

The Third floor will be known as the student cafeteria. It will include multiple microwaves, vending machines, and Cafeteria tables. Microwaves are convenient since there are students who bring their own lunch and need it reheated. The salad bar will also be a healthy alternative to fast food since there are always students who do not have time to get quick healthy food.

The Fourth Floor will be The Gaming Center. It will be the most popular area since all the survey results had gaming areas in them. So, we included some PlayStation 5 along with some Xbox Series X, since these are the most popular systems out. There will also be gaming chairs with Gaming PCs with decent monitors. We will also add to the aesthetic of the gaming center since we will have LED lights all around the room. This will contribute to students getting to know one another and be a great icebreaker.

Introduction:

There are moments in life that you can only experience once. That is why it is important that here at CCNY, students should all strive to ensure that our college experience is one to be remembered. However, there is a pressing problem that students need to address and resolve. We feel that there is a lack of space for students to get together and have fun, which is particularly important in creating a positive mental space for students on campus. We propose to build a student center that will build a sense of community on campus, provide a wellness and recreational space, and bring greater recognition and popularity to the school.

By providing a comfortable wellness space for students to find an escape, it can also serve the purpose of creating a study space that they will feel much more comfortable in. Especially since many students are already spending a lot of time on campus studying outside of class, it can serve as a private space for students to indulge in their studies and have the option of feeling rewarded with the many activities that are accessible in the center. According to Figure 1, we found out that about 68% of students spend more than 3 hours studying on campus. Therefore, by providing a student center it will not just be already extremely popular, but it will build a better sense of community, and provide a better space for students to study. This will therefore increase the results of the school, bringing greater recognition and popularity to the school.

Fig 1: Pie Chart of hours per week spent studying outside of class on campus

If students are already spending a lot of time on campus, then it is about time that we built a building that will allow students to connect with others. According to our survey done on campus, we found that many students do want a student center and had lots of ideas for what they wanted to be included, that would interest them in going to the center. For instance, they wanted areas where they could game with their friends, a proper gym, and even a cafeteria. Therefore, by building this student center we plan to satisfy students, by providing things that they feel the campus lacks. We created a unique plan to share on how we plan to build this student center.

Conclusion

Overall, we propose to build a four-floor student center that will provide all necessary needs for students, and that will successfully create a lively environment for them to play video games together, sports, study, and even eat together. We are confident that the new, amazing student center will generate significant attention on social media, thereby increasing the school’s popularity. We, the Bubrow’s Builders, look forward to the opportunity to bring greatness to your campus, and are very excited to start working.

We plan to satisfy all people’s needs and implement suggestions that we believe would enhance the student center. According to our survey, students wanted areas where they could game with their friends, a proper gym, and even a cafeteria. Our plan is to satisfy students by providing things that they feel the campus lacks. So, we will do everything within our power to make sure that most of these things are included and stay within our budget. We created a very unique plan that we will share on how we plan to build this student center.
